Active Learning : Tabletop Science

Cambridge Primary Science should not be a subject, but a student's exploration of the world around him/her while s/he develops scientific inquiry and learns how to follow scientific practice. Science should be incorporated into daily activities and into the regular classroom; a laboratory and specialist equipment are not required; this science can be done on the top of a table.

Cambridge Primary Science is not learning about Science; it is learning through Science with approximately 30% practical activities, and a focus on Scientific methods and the Scientific process. Contents of this one hour session include the place of tabletop science in a Cambridge Primary programme, equipment, planning and set-up, and several quick, easy, effective and teacher-friendly activities.

This session is rooted in the Philosophies and Practices of Active Learning and provides plug-and-play, tried and true activities for the teaching and learning of Science.

This is one of our Cambridge Primary seminars for teachers in or seeking to join a Cambridge Primary Programme school. An awareness of the Cambridge Pathway and its underpinning approaches is assumed.

This is a Philosophy and Practice seminar please click here for more information on our seminars programme.

This session is also useful for teachers in experiential programmes such as High Scope, IB, Montessori and Reggio. Ask us about other programme and methodology coaching and about short courses for Early Years and the Lower Primary (G1 - 4 or 1º ciclo) level.
