These sessions cover the Reading and Use of English test (Paper One) of Cambridge English's Advanced C1 (formerly CAE) examination. This section of the examination focusses on accuracy, appropriacy and on assessing the candidate's range.
Tasks in this section of the examination are marked right or wrong so there is no overall consideration given, as there is in the Writing and Speaking sections, and review :- 1 = gapfill multiple choice (modified cloze)
- 2 = gapfill, no options (modified cloze)
- 3 = gapfill and word re-formulations
- 4 = sentence re-writing
- 5 = text completion with multiple choice
- 6 = texts with summary / commentary statements to match
- 7 = text with missing paragraphs
- 8 = text with matching statements
You choose which Part(s) you wish to revise, or all of them! Tasks are sent ahead of the session to allow participants to prepare. We look at actual examination questions, review the reason(s) behind the answers and explore how and why they might be problematic. As these are Practice and Feedback sessions (as opposed to pure Examination Practice), we can also explore language points which arise from the prompts, although remember that this is not a language acquisition programme.
