Literary Circles - "The Stoat" by John McGahern

A Literary Circle is a guided discussion about a literary work, reviewing its surface meanings and exploring what lies beyond, why a work is significant, why it lasts and what it can show us about ourselves and each other.

This Circle's two one-hour sessions use guided discussions to consider McGahern's evocative text, what happens, and what we learn about the setting and the characters. We then consider possible themes, McGahern's observations of people and the land and how they might apply to us, and some of the stylistic devices he uses. The text is sent as a pdf prior to the first session.
