Assessing Groupwork

Groupwork is one of the most effective teaching and learning tools, and is of course an integral part of life beyond school in all contexts. Accordingly, evaluating a student's groupwork performance should be a part of his/her oral performance profile.

This session reviews an easy, effective and teacher-friendly evaluation model formerly used in an international high school language examination. It can be adapted and adopted for use in other programmes and at other levels.

Also available : a session or sessions on evaluation training. Recorded groupwork activities are assessed using a model rubric with guidance as to what is rewarded and why. Both the activities and rubric are appropriate as plug-and-play. Check out what else is available in our Speaking Philosophy and Practice series,
