Writing is the least natural of all language skills, requiring guidance and practice, and it is that combination which places demands on teachers. The only way to develop as a writer is through producing written texts and receiving feedback, and providing that feedback takes time.
Feedback means reviewing a student's production, making judgements and assessments, and meeting with the student. Writing within an educational context often requires grading, which is something else again.
This one-hour Philosophy and Practice seminar takes an overview of writing evaluation and offers some valid and reliable, quick-and-easy, teacher-friendly approaches.
