Advanced Use of English Vocabulary : F-bombs

The F-bomb is old, it has been used for centuries, and was not always taboo. Known as "the most versatile word in the English language" and as the "great Australian adjective", the eff-word seems de rigeur in today's movies, television programmes and online media. This session considers how, when and why one of the most popular vocabulary items for learners is used, and its multiplicity of functions and of meanings, from both social and academic perspectives.

Cambridge English C1 Advanced (was CAE) and C2 Proficiency (was CPE) first half 2023

As you look ahead, you should keep these two things in mind.

The minimum level to graduate as an English teacher in Chile is an EFL-C1, meaning that those above the minimum, and those in "above average" or "bilingual" schools, will probably want an EFL-C2. How do you show you have this level? With a certificate.

Secondly, few school Directors, Academic Directors (UTP) or Human Resources managers know what EFL C1 or C2 really mean or if they do, have time to evaluate. So how they do they know a colleague's or candidate's level? They ask for a certificate.

January 2023 - High School Methodology : Speaking

Chatting, conversation, even grunting, are normal and everyday for our students, however they likely require guidance in speaking or more intentional discourse. Although these sessions aimed at High School teachers, Upper Pirmary / Lower Secondary (G5 - 8) teachers will also find them useful.

January 2023 - High School Methodology : Writing

We are born speaking and if not, the nurse will encourage us to start. However writing is a challenge and there is a reason why there is only one Shakespeare, one Steinbeck, one Orwell. Writing is unnatural and that gives us, teachers, something to get our teeth into.
