Open group programme, preparation for Cambridge English C1 Advanced (formerly known as "CAE"). We cover knowing and understanding the examination and its components, Practice of & Feedback on each component, and success and preparation strategies. Whether you are registering for the examination, or are considering it and want to know how to succeed, this programme provides what you need to know.

The 30-hour open group programme is comprised of thirty one-hour sessions, online via Meet, aiming at the November 2023, December 2023 and January 2024 C1 Advanced examination sessions. Two options :
(a) 6.00 - 7.00pm, Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays, 1 August - 30 October 2023. Knock a session out of the park before settling down for dinner.
(b) 9.00 - 10.00pm, Mondays / Wednesdays / Thursdays, 1 August - 30 October 2023. Put the kids to bed, kick back and relax with an exam prep session.
- Introduction, overview, maximising your score, strategies for success, preparation strategies : 2 sessions
- Reading & Use of English : component reviews, markschemes, success tactics, Practice & Feedback, preparation strategies : 15 sessions
- Speaking & Listening : component reviews, markschemes, success tactics, Practice & Feedback, preparation strategies : 5 sessions
- Writing : component (Essay, Review, Report) reviews, markschemes, success tactics, Practice & Feedback, preparation strategies : 5 sessions
- Problem Clinics and Student Choice of topic : 3 sessions
Although reasons for or explanations of responses to particular questions and/or tasks will be explored, this is not a language acquisition and development programme.
Fees apply on a sliding scale from $107.500 for the 6.00pm group, or $99.000 for the 9.00pm group (single payment, not per month), depending on group size. Groups have a maximum of eight group members to allow for participation. Registration may also be open to those interested in only one component, for example Writing.
