C1 Advanced (CAE) Essays review and feedback

A two-hour / double-session review of the Cambridge English C1 Advanced (formerly known as CAE) examination's Writing Paper Part One : Compulsory Essay. The first hour reviews the Paper, its expectations and task types, question analysis, strategies (and a formula!) for success, markscheme and preparation approaches. After a 10-minute break, the second reviews sample essays against the markscheme, analysing strengths and weaknesses in the candidate responses.

An Advanced English-based Introduction to and Overview of Economics

This text-based introduction to and overview of Economics also serves as a subject-based Advanced English acquisition and development programme. The text-review element is based on  Economics : A Very Short Introduction by Partha Dasgupta (OUP), while the language-review element is prompted by student needs as they emerge. This programme is useful for those with a general interest in Economics, and for those following Cambridge, IB or university first-year Economics courses.

This Advanced Vocabulary session looks at this group of words, through the three lenses of acquisition and development.

Manipulating and controlling one's voice is a technique frequently-used by professional speakers and entertainers to create effects and to influence the audience. This session reviews the five features of using one's voice, what they are and what effects they have, for teachers, advanced learners and anyone who wants to speak in public including social media.
